Here in the Netherlands, we discard over a third of our food output yet 2.5 million people live below the poverty line and struggle to feed themselves.

About 1.3 billion tons of food is lost or wasted annually. This fact is particularly striking when looking at its negative effects: The total amount of avoidable food waste and a loss would be able to feed all the people suffering from malnutrition and starvation worldwide.
